CARCROSS INFRASTRUCTURE AND HOUSING PLAN

In the summer of 2023, the Carcross/Tagish First Nation hired 3Pikas to complete and re-initiate a community infrastructure and housing plan. The plan provides strategic direction and guidance for infrastructure and housing development, renewal, and replacement for the next 10 years, and some initiatives will extend beyond this timeline.

This plan presents an up-to-date community profile, population and demographics, projected growth, and household statistics. Moreover, it summarizes relevant plans and legislation governing land use in the Carcross/Tagish First Nation communities of Carcross and Tagish and throughout the Traditional Territory. The Plan provides an inventory and assessment of Carcross/Tagish First Nation’s existing major service-providing infrastructure. The result is a plan to guide infrastructure improvement and replacement projects in key areas where they will have the biggest positive impact for service delivery and sustainability.

Acknowledgment: In the spirit of respect, reciprocity, and truth, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the Traditional Territory of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation and all people who make the City of Whitehorse their homes and whose relationships with the land continue to this day.
